A UI Success story
In 2013 we at Cenito started working with Baxter (then named Gambro) on their new machine called AK-98. This is the next generation of Gambros current dialysis machine AK-96 that is used in hospitals and home care world-wide. The main reason for the update was to introduce a more user-friendly touch-screen based interface on the new machine. Baxter turned to Cenito because of our experience in development and design for user-friendly interfaces.
Together with Baxters team we took the time to thoroughly review the old system and create a new and improved way of interacting with the dialysis machine. Cenito has been involved in all aspects of the development of AK-98 from hard core low level coding up to fluffy UI design.
An ambitious goal was set at the beginning of this project. That goal was that all users should be able to switch from the old to the new machine without needing any education.
User studies has been conducted in different hospitals around the world with patients and nurses. We are very happy to say that the response has been phenomenal and the initial goal that all users should be able to switch to the new machine without any education has been met.
